We’re delighted to provide you with this information on Stewartville, a vibrant town in Southeast Minnesota. Blessed by nature with rolling hills, fertile prairies, steep limestone bluffs, forested hillsides and alluring rivers, our quadrant of the state is a rich agricultural region and a beautiful place to live and work. Stewartville offers the dual advantages of small-town harmony and convenience, coupled with the metropolitan-like ambiance of Rochester, just 10 minutes north of us. We are a town “where the future’s bright,” not only because our impressive city lights have attracted attention throughout the Midwest. Employment, shopping and recreational opportunities, forward-looking schools and delightful residential areas combine to create an attractive quality of life. Stewartville has a multi-purpose Civic Center for community events and meetings, a new Post Office and a new Public Library. Heartland Express and Stewartville Care Center's Senior Van Service, make it easy to get around town, almost as convenient as hailing a taxi. We’re proud of our residential diversity, a blending of gracious older homes with new subdivisions of well-built houses. Our stores, banks and service businesses cater to customers with the small-town friendliness that is our trademark. If you’re visiting, you’ll find good restaurants and lodging. Our industries seem to be continually expanding, offering more employment opportunities and contributing to our growth. Nearly a dozen churches enhance the stability and spiritual life of our community. Although we concentrate on the future, we haven’t forgotten our past. The Stewartville Area Historical Society has restored the birthplace (Dec. 7, 1863) of Richard Sears, founder of Sears Roebuck, and offers tours of the Sears home at 305 N. Main. Part of our growth must be attributed to Stewartville schools, which strive for excellence in serving the students of Racine, High Forest, Pleasant Grove and Stewartville. We are also proud of our parks and trails, new 18-hole golf course and our varied recreation programs. The Root River, one of Southeast Minnesota’s premier canoe streams, lends its natural beauty to the community. More than 5,000 people find Stewartville a great place to live and work. We’ve grown to become Olmsted County’s second-largest city and it’s a wonderful place to visit. If you’re interested in business or industrial opportunities here, or a chance to live in an attractive, welcoming community. Thank you for visiting and let us know if there’s anything we can do to assist you. Chamber of Commerce - 533-6006 City of Stewartville - 533-4745
