VISION

The Bluestem Trail, named for the native prairie grass found in this region, has been authorized by the state legislative as part of the emerging Southeast Minnesota Trail System.  The Bluestem Trail would create an off-road, multi-use trail between Stewartville and Rochester linking the local trail systems in each city. Connection to the Rochester trails would also provide access for Stewartville area residents to other regional trails, including the Douglas Trail and the Whitewater Country Loop trails under development.

The Bluestem Trail would be anchored by the unique communities of Stewartville and Rochester, providing  a valuable recreation resource, promoting respect for the natural environment, and potentially bringing economic benefits to the community through trail-related business opportunities and tourism attraction.

We encourage anyone interested to attend the Stewartville Trail Association meetings:

Date: 4th Thursday of the month
Time: 7:00 PM
Place: Stewartville City Hall
