Crime Free Housing

 In 2008, the City Council passed our Crime Free Housing Ordinance. This ordinance requires that all rental properties be licensed thru the City of Stewartville. Our City Council felt that effective property management can have a major impact on the health of a community. Each year classes are held through a collaborative effort of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office and the Rochester Police Department to help our landlords learn techniques that can be used to stop the spread of illegal activity on rental property.  This class teaches them their responsibilities as property managers in working with police and neighbors to keep drugs and other illegal activity out of their rental properties.
